Sunny Leone: Why This Kolaveri?

In the beginning of the year 2012, Mahesh Bhatt, a noted film maker announced to cast one of the most talked celebrity Sunny Leone to cast in his forthcoming movie ‘Jism – 2’. 

 

Sunny Leone, a Canadian/American porn actress of Indian origin got into controversy after her brief stint in Big Boss Season – 5 (a reality show at Colors).  She is also a recipient of 2012 XBIZ Award — Porn Star Site of the Year. Before working in the porn industry, she tried her luck in a tax and retirement firm and at a German bakery.  She studied nursing in Orange County and at the time of her study she was introduced to Jay Allen, a Penthouse magazine’s photographer who turned her into a model.

 

Many of the viewers of Big Boss Season – 5 thought that Sunny Leone is trying to promote her pornography business as Broadcast Consumers Complaint Council's (BCCC) received as many as 38 complaints regarding her appearance of this reality show.

 

Press Council of India Chairperson Justice Markandey Katju has said that “the past of Sunny Leone should not be held against her if her behavior in India is socially acceptable”. He also added that “Sunny Leone was earning her livelihood in USA in a manner acceptable in that country, though it is not acceptable in India. Hence if she conducts herself in India in a manner which is socially acceptable in India and does not breach the social moral code in India, we should not treat her as a social outcast”. He went on citing historical and religious figures, and said, “Lord Buddha stayed with the courtesan Amrapali and ate food served by her, and she later became his disciple”.  He concluded by saying “There is no saint without a past and no sinner without a future”.

 

“Controversy and Popularity are positively correlated” and above incidence clearly justified this proverb. Sunny Leone became highly discussed talk of the town and she found a place in Mahesh Bhutt camp that is famous for making movie on controversial theme. The whole world is waiting for the release of her debut movie ‘Jism -2’ as she already became a hot topic of discussion and viewers’ expectations from the movie are on the all time high.
